Connie Wimer / Founder and Chairman

Connie started what is now BPC in 1981, after establishing a successful entrepreneurial career as the owner of a title company in Des Moines. BPC has expanded to include a large and respected family of publications and events. A business and civic leader, Connie sits on a number of business and charitable boards. She has started or chaired countless organizations, was the first woman to chair the Chamber of Commerce (now Greater Des Moines Partnership), was the first woman elected to the Greater Des Moines Committee’s Business Hall of Fame, has been named Master Editor/Publisher by the Iowa Newspaper Association, and was chosen for the Iowa Woman’s Hall of Fame.

Suzanna De Baca / President

Suzanna joined BPC in January of 2019.  For over 20 years, Suzanna held senior leadership at global asset management and health care organizations. Recognized as a thought leader in finance and health care, she has written and been quoted in national publications including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Time, and Money Magazine. She earned a B.A. in Art and Design from Iowa State University and an MBA from the Harvard University School of Business (HBS).  She has been active on business and charitable boards of directors, community and alumni activities.

Chris Conetzkey / Group Publisher

Chris Conetzkey is the Group Publisher of Business Publications Corp., a locally-owned niche media organization that publishes the Business Record and dsm Magazine. After a one-year stint as a reporter for the Business Record, he moved to Florida to be an assistant editor for ESPN managing the website and social media efforts for College GameDay. Chris returned to Des Moines in May 2011 to take on the role of editor for the Business Record, and was promoted to Business Record publisher in January 2017. He is originally from the Chicago suburbs and graduated from Iowa State University in 2009 with a degree in Journalism & Mass Communications. While at Iowa State, he worked at the Iowa State Daily as a sports reporter, sports editor and finally editor-in-chief during the 2008-09 school year. He currently serves on the boards of the Iowa State Daily, Iowa Newspaper Foundation, Area Association of Business Publications and Urban Dreams, with a past stint serving on the advisory board for the Iowa State University Greenlee School of Journalism. He also serves on the Greater Des Moines Partnership marketing committee. He is married to his wife Kaci, a Florida-native and Iowa transplant, and are raising their son, Kohltin, who was born in late 2019.

Jason Swanson / Vice President of Operations

Jason Swanson joined BPC in 1998 as an account executive and has held various positions before assuming his current role in 2017. He is responsible for a wide range of duties including audience development, accounting, copy editing, photography and customer service. He graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in journalism. He serves on the community advisory committee for the Pinky Swear Foundation, is on the steering committee for the Grubb YMCA’s Fathers and Families Cookout, is the assistant to the station manager at Valley High School’s 88.7 KWDM radio station and coaches basketball in the YMCA Capital City League.
